We love the collective possibilities that flourish when we choose and enact alternative suburban lifestyles. At Urban Food Street we grow both turmeric and ginger along our suburban verges. Our first batch of honey is only a few verge blossoms away, which makes the Golden Goose aka Turmeric Milk about as local as a drink made from rhizomes and sweetened with honey can be. We caught up with Sarah Nash and stepped inside The Velo Projects kitchen one afternoon recently to provide you with a step by step guide to making your very own Golden Goose. You can get the recipe here or in the Street Larder.
If you are following the Plant Anthology, you might be lucky enough to be growing your own turmeric, which you will harvest sometime after April of each year.
